A Parish Helps Those in Need
There are times when people encounter difficult situations and turn to the church for help. Families may need help with heating fuel, food, or rent deposit. It can be an emergency -- short-termed and unexpected. The Parish of the Holy Eucharist attempts to respond in measured way. At times, the Parish can provide advice about community services which have budgets for assistance. In the past, the Parish has worked with General Assistance coordinators of our towns to find possible sources of public assistance. The Parish has also worked with other churches in our towns to share the cost of helping those who are poor. There are some requests for assistance which our Parish deems real and help can be provided. We may arrange for heating oil to be delivered to a home. We can offer gift cards for food purchases or even negotiate partial payment at times.
Recent cases where we have provided help:
a woman living in a mobile home who had been without hot water for a year and needed a new heating unit
an adult man living with another family member --both on medical disability -- who received a final warning about cut-off of electric power
100 gallons of fuel oil for a disabled woman.
heating oil for a family with three children who had to move into a dilapidated trailer on an emergency basis,
The Parish responds to requests with money which parishioners have donated for this purpose.
For cash donations please note on an envelope that it is for those in need.
Checks and online giving can be given to the Parish of the Holy Eucharist, designating the donation for the Needy Fund. Thank you for your generousity!
