The Social Justice and Peace Commission, which receives the requests for help that come into the parish from our neighbors, has been a "life saver" for many in the months of January and February! The money used to help others comes from our Assistance Fund which consists of donations from parishioners. During this 2 month period 18 families and individuals, dealing with financial limitations due to illness, loss of work or work time, difficulty finding stable housing or being on a lengthy wait lists, family crises, and unexpected expenses, have reached out to our church. Some of the needs represented by these calls are help with rent payments, car expenses, electricity bills, costs related to moving, adaptive equipment, and food costs.
The generosity of our parishioners has helped prevent loss of a safe place to be during some of our coldest weather, when shelters were full, and for most when other options for funding were not available. People are so grateful when help is received. The Social Justice and Peace Commission wants you to know that your help makes a big difference in many lives! Thank you for making this possible!
