Our Parish continues its contact with Sacre-Coeur de Meyer, Haiti, and recently transferred funds to that community. In September every year, we offer $3000 to enroll local children for another school year. There are costs and tuition fees for private and public schools. In addition, our Parish transferred $1200 to Meyer for pastoral support in a commitment which takes place on a quarterly basis throughout the year. The Meyer Pastor has commented on these transfers:
The Parish neighborhood groups - “les fraternités” -- are preparing the selection of schoolchildren who will receive assistance. Most children will come from families connected with the parish. We believe that the vast majority of children had a successful year of education in 2015-16.... Because of the economic problems, there are children who are not starting a new school year which is set for September 5. They will be delayed because government funding to school administrators has not been received. This indicates how important your support is for the children. I thank you on behalf of everyone....Father Bertrand Dieuveille.
