Our Parish accepts the mandate of “assisting those in need.” It is a commitment that plays out in very practical ways — providing financial help to a family facing eviction, offering a supermarket gift card to a person without milk, eggs, or bread in the kitchen, helping a family to get medicine for a sick child — the list of “real-life” examples is long.

The Social Justice and Peace Commission of the Parish acts on that mandate and has an established procedure for assessing each request and deciding what can be done. Our response is a multi-step process: obtaining details from the person making the request; determining if the individual/family needs to be registered with other community programs for regular assistance; and guiding them in taking action, providing payments to the rental office/supplier/utility for the unpaid bill.  Requests for parish assistance are varied: some are parishioners of Holy Eucharist, some are people residing in our towns. Being a parishioner is not the decisive factor — having an emergency is the key.

We ask parishioners to consider a donation to the “Needy” program of the our Parish. Donations can be submitted to the parish office to the attention of Terrie Casavant.
