“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name,
and you are MINE.”
The Bible tells us that God calls us each by name. Through our baptism, each one of us has been given a mission to be the hands, feet, and heart of Christ to the world. At times this can be very confusing and a hard mission to grasp. It is the goal of the “CALLED” Youth Ministry to help our teens prepare for this mission and to challenge them to start living it now in their high school years.
Like adults, teens need to encounter the person of Jesus and to learn how to be His disciples in ways that are relevant to them. Many resources will be available to us this year. Our goals:
Goal 1: To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
Goal 2: To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
Goal 3: To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person
Let us walk with our teens as we help each other become holistic disciples through these eight ways:
This Ministry will be using the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and other Catholic resources to guide our teens' faith formation experiences.
The Creed is a ten-session study that leads teens and young adults through the “big picture” of the Catholic faith, with the Creed as their guide. Re-purposed from the beautiful and engaging SYMBOLON series, this study contains activities to build community, along with discussion questions to engage critical thinking, and resolutions that put the Faith into practice.
There will be 2 weekend diocesan retreats, one in the Fall entitled JOURNEY and one in the Spring entitled CONVENTION. These gatherings will allow your son or daughter to ask any question about our faith that they may be struggling with.
Another active component for this ministry will be a service outreach, which will allow our teens to put their faith into action.
We look forward to journeying with your teens as they continue Encountering Christ and answering His Call.
