A time to talk with Jesus, to tell him your worries, to ask for His help
A time to listen
A time to read spiritual books and the bible
A time to recite prayers: Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Liturgy of the Hours
A time to get to know Jesus better
In Adoration you might…
Find it difficult to hear Jesus, but remember, Elijah heard the Lord not in the wind or fire, but only in the gentle whisper.
Fall asleep, but remember, the disciples fell asleep while praying in the garden with Jesus; he forgave them & asked them to pray with Him again.
Find yourself distracted, but when you do just simply say, “I will return to my prayer now.”
Find yourself bored, don’t worry. Gaze on the Host, realize that Jesus is present, waiting to listen to you. Try saying an act of Spiritual Communion:
“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.”
All are welcome to join us at our regularly scheduled adoration hours:
Adoration at Holy Martyrs: Mondays, 8am-8pm Adoration at St. Gregory: Fridays, 8am-12:00pm
We have a great group of parishioners who have committed to spending time each week in Adoration. Without them, Adoration wouldn’t be open for those who want to stop in to spend time with the Lord. We, as a parish, are grateful to them for their gift of time. If you feel called to join the Adoration Ministry, please call the office at 847-6890 or email us at [email protected].
