An important part of Catholic churches in our Diocese is a commission which assists the parish administration in charitable work. In order to meet the challenge of “being charitable,” there need to be people who can help determine where, how, why & to whom we can offer help. POTHE’s Commission on Social Justice & Peace attempts to meet this challenge...with your help.
At present, the SJ&P Commission needs people to maintain contact within our four churches and the local communities. Fr. Peter Kaseta is the supervisor who cares deeply about the best, justifiable use of money, time and energy for those in need. Parishioner Cathy Martin is the experienced chair of the Commission. We ask that you consider helping our efforts some way, somehow, somewhere. You may contact the parish office if you’d like to get involved. We value your ideas and support. And, at this time, there is a special financial need for our local families. The Commission is the contact point for providing emergency help to people who have hit a brick wall: an eviction notice, cut-off of electrical power, repair of a car which makes it possible to get to a job. During a 12-month period, the Parish has used $23,000 in donated money to help many families in crises. This money is disbursed carefully & involves contact with the family & other assistance organizations.
