As Catholics, we are all called to care for the earth and be good stewards of the environment. In Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si’), Pope Francis asks “every person living on this planet” for an inclusive dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. Pope Francis calls on the Church and the world to acknowledge the urgency of our environmental challenges and to join him in embarking on a new path. Click here to read more about Laudato Si'.
Next weekend (June 8/9) during Mass times, our parish is taking up this call and asking our parishioners to help us all “go green,” specifically through three separate methods:
1. Participating in our parish-wide e-waste disposal.
2. Changing your means of support to e-giving.
3. Signing up for the online, digital e-bulletin.
#1: Parish Go Green Weekend E-Waste Disposal (June 8/9, 2019)
What is e-waste? E-waste is a popular, informal name for electronic products nearing the end of their “useful life.” Computers, televisions, VCRs, stereos, copiers, and fax machines are common electronic products. Many of these products can be reused, refurbished, or recycled. Certain components of some electronic products contain materials that render them hazardous, depending on their condition and density. It is best to recycle products you do not use that are very old or cannot be repaired. Bring your old electronics to church next weekend at all 4 of our parish churches. We will be accepting old computers and supplies, TVs, monitors, & electronics. No air conditioners, refrigerators or dehumidifiers please.
#2: Changing Your Means of Support to E-Giving
Are you wondering about the benefits of online giving? It’s safe and secure. Your information is never shared with anyone and we use banking standards to protect your information. It’s easy. Your offerings can be automatic and it takes less process time for parishioners and staff. And most importantly, it’s environmentally friendly. It saves resources as no checks or envelopes are used. Click here to visit WeShare and sign-up to begin regular online giving to the parish. Or contact Melissa Bagdon at the parish office to answer any questions (207.553.7158) [email protected].
#3: Sign up for FlockNotes, our online, digital bulletin.
Begin receiving the weekly bulletin and weekly parish news in your inbox via email and help reduce paper waste. You can sign up for our parish FlockNote by clicking here.
