Physician Assisted Suicide The Maine State Legislature is presently considering two bills that relate to Assisted-Physician Suicide (LD 347: “An Act to Support Death With Dignity” and LD 1066: “An Act to promote Death With Dignity”).
In January Bishop Deeley published “Three Beliefs – A Guide for Maine Catholics On End-of-Life Decisions”. This publication clearly presents Church teaching on end-of-live decisions. It is a concise and well written document. Copies were distributed to all parishioners of the Parish of the Holy Eucharist. If you did not receive a copy, contact the parish office for a copy.
Also available from the parish office is another document that contains reflections by Bishop Deeley on the threat of physician-assisted suicide in the State of Maine.
